Appointment to Parliamentary Committee

Member for Gregory, Lachlan Millar, has been appointed to the Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources Committee of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.

The Queensland Parliamentary committee is responsible for scrutinizing bills within the portfolios of the Department of Transport, Infrastructure, Local Government, Planning and Trade and State Development, Natural Resources and Mines.

“I welcome my appointment and look forward to my role in being able to rigorously assess State government Bills which will come before the committee,” Mr Millar said.

“As one of only two LNP members on the committee I know how important it will be to keep the Government accountable.”

“I will endeavour to make sure that the views of all sections of Queensland are heard.

The Parliamentary Committee system fulfils a unique role in the Queensland Parliament because there is no upper house of review. Instead, all legislation is reviewed by the relevant parliamentary committee before being voted on in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly
