The Gregory Electorate received a welcome Christmas present with the announcement of funding for 13 sports related projects under the Get Playing Places and Spaces Program.
A total of $794,781 was made available to undertake projects for sports including tennis, netball, clay-shooting, swimming and multi-sport and community facilities, such as a community gymnasium for Blackall.
“I congratulate all the applicants on an outstanding effort. These projects are community-driven and will improve the social and sporting infrastructure of communities right across Gregory, from the Barcoo to the Central Highlands,” said Member for Gregory Lachlan Millar.
“This is a much needed boost which will allow these clubs to upgrade, renovate and in a couple of cases actually create the sporting infrastructure which is the hub of community life in Gregory,” he said.
“I hope these successes inspire other applicants in Gregory to also apply. The next round won’t open until July 1, but applicants can start preparing their applications now with quotes and plans. Please feel free to contact my office for further details.”
