Labor Re-announces LNP Commitments for Gregory

The Palaszczuk Government’s first budget is full of re-announcements of LNP commitments including funding for the Alpha Community Hospital and road funding for the Blackwater- Rolleston Road and the Tambo-Springsure Road.

Member for Gregory Lachlan Millar said these funding announcements were fully costed and funded by the previous LNP Government.

“The only question until now is whether they would fall victim to Labor’s budget black hole cuts,” he said.

“A classic example of Labor trying to claim credit for something that was announced by the LNP Government is the Alpha Community Hospital which was announced by the LNP in the state election 5 months ago.”

“While I welcome this funding which our communities vitally need, it is disappointing it has taken this long for Labor to commit to these projects, despite the fact the funding was in place,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the news is not all good. Blackwater Hospital urgently needs upgrading and the LNP had funded this for $300,000 of funding. This seems to have fallen into Labor’s black hole.

“I also can’t see line items for funding which had been announced but now has disappeared. These are a promised $27.5 million for projects in mining communities and a promised $7.5 million of funding for remote communities,” said Mr Millar.

“Our region should not be held ransom just because Labor has no plan for the Queensland economy.”
