Local MP Congratulates LSHS Class of 2016

Longreach State High School has much to be proud of achieving 63 per cent of its eligible students receiving an OP 1 to 5 in 2016 said Member for Gregory, Lachlan Millar MP.

“This earnt the school first place on the list of Queensland’s leading OP Schools, including Queensland’s top GPS and private schools,” he said.

“It shows you can live in country Queensland and still achieve academically to your highest potential.”

Mr Millar congratulated the eight students, their teachers and parents and former principal Lesley Andrews.

“I’ll be sending Lesley a note of congratulations as she has been transferred to Rockhampton this year. But I know our new principal Patrick Bruck and his team will be coaching the Class of 2017 to match the achievements of the Class of 2016,” he said.

Mr Millar said it was a constant challenge to see that schools in country Queensland aren’t left behind in terms of curriculum, teaching resources and professional support for our teachers.

“But this result shows the most important ingredients for success are the students and teachers,” he said.
